Fullback in the mix

The Patriots have scheduled a workout with Rich Demars, FB, (6-1, 225 pounds) out of the University of Massachusetts today (Monday). This local product has flown under the radar and may get an invite to the camp come the summer should he not get drafted by some team at the NFL Draft.

Having recently re-signed Corey Dillon's lead blocker for 2004, FB Patrick Pass, to a new contract, the Patriots are set for now at the position. Pass, a 6-year vet is not likely to disappear any time soon, but will turn 28 this season. That's a time which tends to be toward the downside of most FB's careers.

Demars had nearly a 4.2 yard average per carry and caught 17 passes last season for the UMASS Minutemen. He has spent time at Tailback and has the size to transition to the NFL.

Another Louisville QB?

With one former Louisville quarterback already signed (Chris Redman) , the team appears to be looking at another. Draft prospect Stefan Lefors, QB out of Louisville, (6-0, 201 pounds) is scheduled to visit the Patriots on Tuesday.

LeFours who auditioned for scouts at the university's pro day and the NFL combine spoke with Scout reporter at the pro day workout. Speaking about how he was able to enjoy Pro Day without the nervousness after the rigors of the combine.

"I'm enjoying it," LeFors explained. "I was kind of nervous at the combine, but I knew what to expect this time. I was anxious to get it started."

The Patriots continue to scour the available list of quarterbacks out there including other draft prospects such as Charlie Frye (Akron) for a potential competing job behind Brady.

Rohan Davey, who has continued to hold down the backup position behind Brady may not be the long term solution the Patriots are looking for, or, they may just be bringing in new faces to see if there's a qualified #3 out of the bunch.
